Vantage Homes Trek for Autism 2019

Thank you for supporting local families living with Autism. Please ensure at least one member of your team has a printed copy of this Trek information with them on the day!

For Trekkers: Registration bag collection is on Wednesday 24 April 3-6pm at The Bluff Room, Alex Surf Club

Pre-Event Information

  1. Ensure you and all team members have read, signed and returned your waivers

  2. Be familiar with the Trek Route map and safety information – Save the Vantage Homes Trek for Autism Map on your Phone for trek day reference.

  3. Remember to pack a mobile battery source to recharge your phone enroute if needed.

  4. Organise a support/backup crew that can assist you along the route if need. Be, and don’t forget to share the map with them so they are familiar with the route.

  5. Coordinate your transport from the start line to the finish line with your team or support crew.

  6. Be prepared! Before the day of the trek ensure you have all that will be required. Comfortable back pack/Camelbak, lots of water, strapping tape, blister pads, band aides, sunscreen, hat, fresh socks and a few snacks.

  7. Weather be prepared for all possibilities!

  8. Drink plenty of water in the lead up to the event.

  9. While limited fruit and snacks will be available please be aware this may not be enough to sustain you for the whole day so bring additional food or money to purchase food along the route.

Trek Day Information

  1. Don’t forget to have breakfast!! You will need your energy!

  2. 25K FULL TREK - Check in desk is open from 7:30am – Tickle Park Coolum. Warm up session hosted by Outdoor Adventures Australia will take place at 8:30am in Tickle Park.
    12.5K HALF TREK - Check in desk is open from 9:45am – Mudjimba Surf Club, Mudjimba Esplanade. Start anytime or catch-up with your friends & team when they arrive.

  3. Ensure your bib is pinned to the front of your shirt. This number will need to be quoted at check in.

  4. Assist First Aid will be onsite to assist with strapping needs (limited availability).

  5. For the 25K Full Trek, please ensure you are at the Start line on Coolum Beach by 8:50am for a 9am start.

  6. Rest stop at Mudjimba Beach Surf Club – Unity Water Hydration Station available, toilets, fruit, first aid and local shops available for drinks and snacks.

  7. Rest stop at Picnic Point – Water, first aid, fruit and toilets.

  8. Please be aware that this is not a timed event, if you are wanting to track your time please download a timing app prior to the event such as My Fitness Pal.

  9. First Aid Stations: Tickle Park Coolum Beach Start Line, Half Way Point- Mudjimba Surf Club, Picnic Point & Alex Heads Surf Club Finish Line.

Signs and markers

  • Please ensure you follow all directional markers/arrows, if in doubt please check the printed map or on your phone at scribble maps.

  • We will also have blue tags along the course in between these markers.

  • And don’t forget to take lots of photos and use the #VantageAutismTrek.

In case of emergencies or withdrawal

  1. First Aiders will be at the start and also at both rest stops, if it’s a minor complaint please make your way to one of these stops. First Aid Stations: Tickle Park Coolum Beach Start Line, Half Way Point- Mudjimba Surf Club, Picnic Point & Alex Heads Surf Club Finish Line.

  2. Call your support crew to see if they can assist you.

  3. Call 000 for any serious accidents or emergencies (tell them you are part of the Trek for Autism event) then call event organiser to advice.

  4. If first aid is required outside of rest stops, contact event organiser on 0448 965 779.

  5. For event withdrawals Contact event organiser on 0448 965 779 and quote your name and bib number.

  6. Please keep safe on the roads and be aware of your surroundings. Look out for each other and offer assistance to anyone requiring help.

  • Please note the finish line will be closed down from 5:30pm. If you are not across the line prior to this time please contact your support team and event organiser.
