Brett Wolens has worked in the disability sector for over 30 years, working both within the Government and Non-Government sector. His career began working as a support worker with Individuals with a disability, mental health and ageing. Brett realised early in his career that he had a passion for understanding what drives individual behaviour. It wasn’t long before Brett become the Behaviour Support Officer and then Senior Program Officer within the Department of Communities. Brett then expanded his career and moved to the Non-Government sector in 2013, Managing Disability Support programs before becoming Manager Behaviour Support and Complex Client Interventions, with STEPS Group Australia.
Over the past 30 years, Brett has developed extensive experience in providing positive behavior support to individuals who exhibit Challenging Behavior. He is highly experienced in providing specialised assistance and training to individuals with a disability, their families and staff, where the needs of an individual have been identified as complex and challenging. Brett utilised the most recent evidence based practices and employs both positive behaviour support and simple psycho-educational approach to address challenging behaviour, while maintaining an explicit focus on quality of life. He has a well-respected reputation within the community sector, due to his passion for working with individuals who have complex behavior support needs and his commitment to individualised responses.
